The Akron Public Library’s 2023 Summer Reading Program began last Tuesday, June 20 and will run through Friday, July 21. Tuesdays and Thursdays program hours will be from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM, thus moving the library’s hours of operation from 3 PM to 8 PM each Tuesday and Thursday. Wednesday library hours will be from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Each Tuesday, the program will begin with a story time from 5 PM to 6 PM, with school enrichment following immediately afterwards and going until 7 PM. The program will conclude with outside play and snack time from 7 PM to 7:30 PM.

On Thursdays, Lego building will begin at 5 PM and go to 6 PM, with arts and crafts following from 6 PM to 7 PM. Like Tuesday, the evening will conclude with outside play and snack time from 7 PM to 7:30 PM.

Children aged 10 and under must have an adult attending with them and adults must sign in for attending children. Volunteers are needed for the program, particularly to help with the Tuesday school enrichment section. Volunteers willing to help in the areas of reading, math, language enrichment, and computer skills may locate sign-up sheets at the Hale County Library and Greensboro City Hall.
