Moundville pair cited for illegally killing alligator last week

Two Moundville residents, Bradley Matherson, 43, and Jerry Matherson, 19, were cited on June 14 and June 15, 2023, respectively. The charges, filed in Hale County District Court, revolve around the alleged illegal harvesting of an alligator on Otter Road near the southwest end of Brush Creek, near the Black Warrior river.

According to court documents, the duo were apprehended by a game warden. The two were later released on bond. Their cases have been assigned to District Judge Timothy A. Evans.

The plea docket for both defendants is set for July 31.
