Library to name summer reading winners Friday

The Friends of Hale County Library will hold a party Friday, July 31, at 2 p.m. at the library, 1103 Main Street, to celebrate readers who took part in the Read America 250: Unearth a Story summer reading program.

Winners of the program’s cash prize drawings will be announced at the party. The deadline to enter the drawing is July 31.

Readers earned an entry each time they finished a book carrying an America 250 sticker, with additional books earning additional entries. Parents verified the reading.

The event is sponsored by the Friends of Hale County Library and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

    A Brunswick, Ga., man was arrested Monday, July 20, on a warrant stemming from a March 2025 drug case in Greensboro.
