Sarah Waller Horton was born on April 29, 1962, in Sawyerville, to the late L.T. and Earnestine Waller. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and became a devoted, lifelong member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Sawyerville. Throughout the years, she faithfully served as a Deaconess, choir member, Missionary, Matron, Youth Sunday School teacher, and Minister’s wife. Her unwavering faith in God remained the guiding force of her life.
Sarah received her education through the Hale County School System and was a proud graduate of Greensboro High School, Class of 1980.
She was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Willie James Horton Jr. (“Dipper”), for 44 wonderful years. From this loving union, two children were born. Sarah also lovingly embraced Edward and LaTonya Waller as her own, raising them with the same unwavering love, care, and devotion that she extended to every child whose life she touched. Together, she and Willie built a home rooted in faith, love, and family.
Sarah will be fondly remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, her nurturing heart, and the love and care she so freely gave to the children in her family and among her friends. She was a devoted caregiver who helped raise and care for countless children, treating each one with warmth, patience, and unconditional love. Whether preparing a delicious home-cooked meal, offering words of encouragement, or simply opening her heart and home to those in need, Sarah made everyone feel loved. Her legacy of compassion, selflessness, and unwavering faith will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
