The Newbern Library is pleased to announce that “the Raptors are Coming” to the library on Friday, June 12, 2026, for a free public program. Staff members from the Auburn Raptor Center will bring five raptors, commonly known as birds of prey, to Newbern for a two-hour demonstration held outdoors under a large tent adjacent to the library.
During the program, handlers will display each bird and discuss its characteristics, habitat, and role in the ecosystem. Audience members will then have the opportunity to get up close to the birds and take photographs with several of the raptors, including an eagle, an owl, and a hawk.
The free public program will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until 1:00 p.m. The Raptor Center presentation is part of the Newbern Library’s Summer Reading Program and is funded through a grant from Wells Fargo.
