Hale County Schools Superintendent Michael Ryans was honored as an Education Champion at a Teach For America gala this month. Ryans received the Education Champion Honoree award at the event, which marked TFA’s 15th anniversary in the region.
Four West Alabama organizations are among fifteen such groups throughout Alabama sharing $673,000 in grant funds awarded by Governor Ivey to assist victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and other crimes. The Episcopal Church Women of Alabama are accepting applications for their 2026 scholarship program. Applications opened Feb. 27 and are due April 30.
