Joseph Michael Fields, age 56, passed away on April 7, 2023, at the UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hattie Fields and James Lee Jemison, maternal grandparents Ed and Emma Fields, paternal grandparents Alphonso and Mattie Jemison, aunt Maggie Collins, and uncles Alfred Fields Sr., Eugene Fields, and Abraham Jemison.
Joseph is survived by six brothers: Alexander (Linda) Fields of Moundville, Alabama; Marcus (Ebony) Benison of Moundville, Alabama; Brian and Marvin Benison of Greensboro, Alabama; Wilie Shawn Burrell, Herbert (Wanda) Horton of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and one sister, Mattie Rhodes of Detroit, Michigan. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, including his devoted cousin and sister, Margaret Alexander of Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 14, 2023, from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. at the Agnew Funeral Home Chapel located at 1110 Baptist Hill, Greensboro, Alabama 36744. The celebration of life graveside service was held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Matthew Church Baptist Cemetery in Sawyerville, Alabama. The Rev. Robert Johnson, Pastor of St. Matthew Baptist Church, officiated, with Agnew Funeral Home directing.
