The Annual Greensboro Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 10, enjoyed an awesome turnout from the town. It was an epic celebration (“Joy to The World”) which started Friday Night with the Community Choir singing Christmas carols on the steps of City Hall, free hotdogs, cotton candy and drinks, Santa Claus, Christmas tree lighting and fireworks. Saturday was filled with food, apparel, accessories, jewelry from street vendors and entertainment. Grand Marshalls was Judge Timothy Evans, District Judge of Hale County and Brandon Lee former student of Greensboro High School lead the parade. Marching bands from Hale County High School, Moundville, AL; Paul Bryant High School, Tuscaloosa, AL; Free Style All Stars, and Jackson Olin High School from Birmingham, AL; dance groups, cheerleaders and homecoming queens from surrounding schools participated, as did the drivers of many types of welldecorated vehicles ranging from semi- trucks to golf carts, ATV’s, fire trucks, beautiful floats and of course, Santa Claus in his sleigh tossing Christmas stockings & candy to children along the parade route. Parade attendees, groups of friends and neighbors watched the parade all along Main Street and downtown was chock-a-block filled with people and festivities., The Christmas Tree was beautifully decorated by Stephen “Buzzy” Barnette. The fireworks over the city, safely presented by Greensboro Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday were spectacular and enjoyed by all.

The Christmas Parade Committee wishes to thank all who attended, participated, those who volunteered and/or donated their time, services or finance and those who prepared and served the food for the bands without them the parade would not have been a success.

The Christmas Parade Committee include Annetta Constant, Chairperson, Clifton Lewis, Co-Chairperson, Jackie Hoskin, Lorrie Cook, Ronnie Constant, Regina Chavers, Deborah Thomas, Valada Paige- Banks, Kim Skipper and Phyllis Hollie. We are already anticipating the planning of next year’s event. Again, the Christmas Parade Committee thank each one who helped make the parade a grand event.
