John Ferrell Ferguson, age 89, of Greensboro, AL passed away May 4, 2022 at Hale County Hospital. A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 7, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Greensboro. A graveside service followed at 1:30 p.m. at Memory Hill Gardens in Tuscaloosa with the Rev. Dr. Mike Pearson and the Rev. Doug Jolly officiating. Visitation was held from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Cindy Johnson Ferguson, brother, Morris Howell Ferguson and sister, Joyce Howell.

Survivors include his wife, Frances B. Ferguson; sons, Michael Eugene Cork (Bernice), JohnW William Cork; daughter, Brenda Ferguson Sample (Steve); brothers, Robert E. Ferguson (Mary Evelyn), W. Gerald Ferguson (Barbara) and sister, Janice Reach; grandchildren, Trey Ferrell (Kendall), John Allen Ferrell, Laurena Sweeney (Aaron), Donna Bingen (Chance) and Melanie Husley; great-grandchildren; Daniel Thomas, Mia Ferrall, Marley Ferrell, Emma Quinn Sweeney, Elora Rose Sweeney, Max Bingen, Jack Bingen, Christian Husley and numerous precious nieces and nephews.

John was born August 8, 1932 in Perry County, Alabama to the late John Morris and Lydia Maybelle Mitchell Ferguson. John was a B.F. Goodrich Tire Dealer. H was active in the Alabama Tire Dealers Association and was inducted into the Alabama Tire Dealers Hall Of Fame in 2004. John was a member of First United Methodist Church, Greensboro for over 50 years and served his church in many areas of leadership. He also served his community in many areas over the years. He recently retired as a director of Peoples Bank of Greensboro. He was very active in the Lions Club and recently received his 60 year service pin. He was named a Melvin Jones Fellow in 2017. John was a founding member of Lakeview Country Club and was an avid golfer. He enjoyed many year of golf with his shade tree friends. John was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. John Duffy, John Chambers, CRNP, Southern Care Hospice, Excelsior S.S. Class FUMC, Greensboro, Lions Club, Peoples Bank Employees and Directors, Ed Westmorland, Jay Seale, Bill Hardwick and the nursing staff of Hale County Hospital.
