Mr. Will Straiton has been appointed to a clerkship in the Greensboro postoffice, a position he will fill with credit to himself and entire satisfaction to the public. He is thoroughly capable.
MARRIED – Mr. Darrell Albright and Miss Ruby Stokes were married in Greensboro n May 13th and are receiving the congratulations of their friends.
HALF HOLIDAY – The merchants of Greensboro begin closing their stores at one o’clock today, May 18th, and will take a half holiday every Thursday until the 1st of September. It is a splendid custom.
Mr. J.B. Abernathy, prominent candidate for sheriff of Hale county, was in Greensboro Tuesday with his right arm in a sling. He was kicked by a Ford a few days ago, which resulted in a fractured wrist. Jim says it will take something worse than a kick by a “John Henry” to put him out of the running.
The Moundville High School base ball team came to Greensboro last Monday afternoon and defeated the Greensboro High School boys in a most interesting game by a score of 6 to 5.
Miss Grace Griffin, the accomplished daughter of Dr. and Mrs. R.J. Griffin of Moundville, has the thanks of the editor for an invitation to be present at the graduating exercises of Woman’s College in Montgomery which take place on the 29th of May. Miss Griffin is a distinguished member of the graduating class.
