Robert Mickens, 93, died December 24, 2025. He was born September 19, 1932, in Greensboro, Alabama, to the late Joe and Elizabeth Mickens.
He confessed Christ at an early age and joined Mars Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Upon moving to Cleveland, Ohio, he joined Greater Friendship Baptist Church, where he served on the Usher Board for several years. He worked at Lincoln Electric as an electrician until his retirement.
On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, Robert Mickens was called to eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lottie Mae Mays.
He leaves to cherish his memories:
- Three daughters: Mary Wilkerson, Patricia Smith, and Doris (William) Essex, all of Birmingham, Alabama
- One son: Gregory (Melissa) Gooden of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
- One brother-in-law: Jessie Mays of Tuscaloosa, Alabama
- Six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives, and friends
Graveside services were held Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Mickens Cemetery in Greensboro, Alabama, with Rev. Nathaniel Carter officiating and Agnew Funeral Home directing.
