John Jay retired on July 31, 2025, as superintendent of the City of Greensboro Utilities Board after more than 48 years of service to the citizens of Greensboro. A retirement luncheon was held on August 1 at Greensboro City Hall, attended by family, former and current employees, and friends.

“It has been a pleasure to serve this community that I love and have lived in my whole life,” Jay said.

Chris Bishop has been selected by the Utilities Board of Directors as the new superintendent, effective September 1, 2025. Jay will continue in an advisory capacity as needed.
