Clara (Thomas) Williams, 93, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on July 30. She was born on May 30, 1933, in Hale County to Ruffin and Mary Thomas.
Clara worked at Doctors Hospital for over 25 years. She was a member of St. Mark AME Church, where she sang in the choir, was a member of the missionary society and served as a steward.
Clara enjoyed cooking for family and friends, watching baseball and basketball games and watching old Western shows. She loved the color blue.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six siblings; sons Clinton, Steve and Joseph; and grandchildren Andre’ and Patrick.
Clara is survived by her children, James (Josephine), Denise (James) Burton, Thaddeus (Sally) and Cheryl Lynn; daughters-in-law Tolonda Williams and Elisa Williams; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 15, at 2 p.m. at St. Luke AME Church, 217 St. Luke Road, Moundville, with Rev. West Moore officiating. Rev. Steve Brown is the church pastor.
Burial followed in Havana, where she was laid to rest alongside her sister.
