Woman dies in single vehicle accident on Hwy. 25 near Greensboro

A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, has claimed the life of a Tuscaloosa woman.

Ava L. Smith, 43, was fatally injured when the 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe she was driving left the roadway and struck an embankment. Smith was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Alabama 25 near the 48 mile marker, approximately five miles south of Greensboro, in Hale County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
