Melvin Lee Webster, also known as “Poodie,” was born on August 1, 1988, in Greensboro, Alabama, to the late Barbara Denise Webster and Melvin Green.
Melvin accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Greenleaf Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Carlier Agnew.
He was educated through the public school system in Greensboro, Alabama, and was employed at Foster Farms in Demopolis, Alabama.
Affectionately known as “Poodie,” Melvin was a kind and respectful young man who was well-mannered and always greeted others with “Yes ma’am” and “Yes sir.” He was loving, caring, and truly a people person who was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever he could.
Melvin loved family gatherings and was especially known for barbecuing and cooking with his father while selling plates for the community to enjoy.
Melvin departed this life on May 23, 2026, at Hale County Hospital in Greensboro, Alabama, at the age of 37.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his father, Melvin Green, and stepmother, Deborah Green; two sisters, Kimberly Webster and April (Terry) Webster; and one brother, Melvin Green Jr., all of Greensboro, Alabama.
He also leaves behind nine aunts: Barbara (Ronnie) Harris of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Rebecca Green, Roemia Mickens, Vivian (Willie) Garrett, Rosie Williams, Tracy Williams, Lucy Nell Bailey, Barbara (Chris) White, Levonne Williams, and Kimberly Williams, all of Greensboro, Alabama; and Eliza (Bobby) Void of Birmingham, Alabama.
Seven uncles remain to cherish his memory: Danny (Annette) Webster, Charles Webster, Charlie (Joyce) Green, Fred (Maxine) Williams, and Wayne (Brenda) Williams, all of Greensboro, Alabama; Arthur (Marvalean) Green of Atlanta, Georgia; and Charles (Ernestine) Williams of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Melvin also leaves two nieces, Kaniya Lawson and Kyla Lawson of Greensboro, Alabama; five nephews, Omarion Lawson, Jakel Lawson, Tylan McCalpine, Tyquan McCalpine, and Christopher Lewis, all of Greensboro, Alabama, and Orlando Lawson of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; one great-niece, Kaliyah Lawson of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; along with a host of very special relatives and friends.
Services were held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Greenleaf Baptist Church, Greensboro, Alabama, with Rev. Dr. Bryan McCullough officiating.
Melvin’s loving spirit, kind heart, and warm smile will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
