Funeral services for Ethel Mae Ward, 74, were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2026, at Saint Marys AME Church. Mrs. Ward passed away on March 27, 2026.

Mrs. Ward was born on February 16, 1952. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. From Tuscaloosa to Delaware, Jackson, and later Greensboro, she was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She was a faithful member of St. Mary AME Church. Her faith guided her life and showed in the way she cared for others. She had a heart for her family and truly enjoyed spending time with them. Whether it was laughing, talking, or playing dominoes and cards with her friends, she made every moment special. She was known for her loving spirit and was truly loved by everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Ward; her parents, Mary Patton and Frank Ward Sr.; her grandparents, Della and Richard Bell; her siblings, Adell Lee, Cora Lee, Richard Bell, James Ward, Robert Lee, Cephus Ward, and Roy Ward; her son, James Arthur Ward; and her granddaughter, Angel Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Dorothy Williams, Eddie Williams Sr. (Katricia), Jeanette Williams, Shakeria Williams, and her big baby, Lakeitha Ward. She also leaves behind 19 grandchildren, along with many others who lovingly called her Grandma, a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She is also survived by her siblings, Mary Johnson, Rose (Joe) McAlpine, Frank (Angie) Ward, John Ward, and William Ward. She shared a special bond with her cherished niece, Rosenell McAlpine, and her beloved cousin, Willie Dittaway. She also leaves behind her companion, Barry, along with dear friends she shared many domino and card games with, creating memories filled with laughter and love.
