Funeral services for Mrs. Rosie Lee Holley Williams, who died April 14 age the age of 95, were held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Newbern, Alabama. Pastor James Williams officiated, and Minister Charlie B. Williams Jr., Associate Pastor of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, delivered the eulogy. Mrs. Rosie Lee Holley Williams, a beacon of love and faith, leaves behind a legacy of selfless devotion to her family and community. Born on April 11, 1930, in Newbern, Alabama, Rosie was a cherished daughter, born to her mother Pearl Shepherd. Throughout her life, she exemplified the virtues of kindness and dedication that were instilled in her from an early age.
Rosie’s life was one of service and commitment. She was a proud graduate of the Hale County Training School, Class of 1951. Her faith was her guiding light, and she joined the First Baptist Church of Newbern, Alabama, at a young age. Her devotion to her faith was evident in her active participation in the church, where she previously served as the President of the Missionary Society, a role she held with honor and grace.
Rosie’s heart found it match in Charlie B. Williams, and their union was blessed with five wonderful children. She built a life filled with love, laughter, and joy and family. Rosie’s nurturing spirit was not only felt within the walls of her home but extended to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Sadly, Rosie was preceded in death by her beloved mother, her husband Charlie, her cherished siblings, adopted son, Franklin Pinkston and a dear son-in-law, David Wagner, Sr. Yet her memory will be lovingly carried on by her devoted children: Charlie (Maria) Williams of Fort Wayne, Indiana; David (Gloria) Williams of Greensboro, Alabama; Andrew Williams; Roosevelt (Sharon) Williams of Birmingham, Alabama; and Barbara Wagner of Moundville, Alabama. She was also a proud grandmother to 20 grandchildren, 21 greatgrandchildren, and 3 greatgreat grandchildren. Most of all, Rosie is also survived by her sister-in-law, Helen Williams; daughter-in-law, Barbara Joe Williams; childhood friend, Hattie Sneed; good neighbors, James Robinson, Voncille Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby (Fannie) Scott, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, all of whom were touched by her generous spirit and unwavering support.
Known for her love of family, Rosie cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, delighting in their achievements and milestones. She found solace in the pages of a good book and took pride in creating a warm and inviting home through passion for cleaning and cooking. Rosie’s recipes and the comfort of her well-kept home will be fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to experience her hospitality.
Rosie’s life can best be described by the words loving, faith-filled, and selfless. She gave of herself freely and without expectation, her actions always guided by a profound sense of compassion and empathy. Her love knew no bounds, and her faith was a source of strength, not only for herself but for everyone around her.
