John Bolding, track and field coach at Francis Marion School, announced plans to form a United States of America Track and Field (USATF) track club that will be open to all youth in the surrounding areas. The Black Belt Track Club will not bar membership based on school or county.

The intended purpose of the club will be to offer more extracurricular activities for area youth, as well as introducing track and field as a sport to youths prior to middle school. The club plans to have several adults and graduated track and field athletes to assist students with their journey into running.

The Black Belt Track Club will be open to children and youth aged between 6 and 18 years of age. There is a $20 sign up fee, all fees will cover USATF club fees, as well as equipment and supplies needed to train athletes. Additional costs will be incurred if the athletes choose to participate in any USATF competitions. Training will be twice per week from the end of May to the end of July.

A Google Form with signup information is available on Francis Marion’s social media for those interested in signing up. Interested parties may contact Francis Marion School for any further information.
