Department announced development on Wednesday, Sept. 14 on Facebook— then HCSD FB page disappeared

Hale County Sheriff’s Department has announced the termination of Deputy Allen Nail following a domestic violence arrest in Tuscaloosa County.

In a post to the department’s official Facebook account on Wednesday evening, the department announced the development. HCSD said they were notified on Tuesday, Sept. 13 by Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Department that one of Hale County’s deputies had been the subject of a domestic violence call in Tuscaloosa County.

Following an investigation by TCSD and the Hale County Sheriff’s department’s own internal investigation, Nail was arrested and booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail on charges of domestic violence. His bond was set at $15,000.

“Deputy Nail’s actions have betrayed the public trust and the oath he took to uphold the laws of Alabama therefore he can no longer work for me nor the citizens of Hale County,” said Sheriff Kenneth Ellis.

In the announcement, Ellis said he also wished to thank Tuscaloosa County Sheriff Ron Abernathy and his team of investigators for keeping him informed on the progress of the investigation.

Shortly after releasing the announcement via Facebook, which was quickly shared and picked up by local and regional news outlets, the HCSD’s Facebook page vanished from the internet.

The department has not released any information as to the reason for the page’s disappearance as of press time.
