The Magnolia Homemakers and Community Leaders met on April 19. Nancy Jennings, president, presided. The minutes were provided by Megan Stokes, secretary, and the treasurer’s report was presented by Melvin Cothran, treasurer. One scholarship application has been received. Gordon Cates shared the devotional message. Nancy Jennings introduced her guest, Linda Lister, who is visiting with the Jennings family. In addition, Nancy introduced Pam Riley, a new member. Jovita Lewis attended the district meeting of Alabama Homemakers and received information about new Alabama cottage laws and rules. Members brought eyeglasses for the Greensboro Lions Club. Bill Hemstreet of Lions Club attended our meeting to collect the donated eyeglasses. Nancy Jennings led the craft project of decorating a vine wreath. Pine cones could be painted and glued to the wreath project. Meghan Stokes presented the program about the services available to residents at Perry County Nursing Home where she serves as director of marketing. Services include rehabilitation, Hospice, outpatient physical therapy, dementia care, and residential care. The next meeting will be held on April 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hale County Extension Office at Lion’s Park. Meg Ford will present the program in May on Audubon Society. Hostesses will be Anne Bailey and Nikki Fair. Members plan to bring donations of food for the Moundville Food Bank.
