U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell,
whose Seventh Congressional District includes
Perry County and the rest of
the Black Belt, will host a
town hall meeting in Marion today, Thursday, April
21, beginning at 1:15 p.m.
The meeting, part of
Sewell’s “Congress in Your
Community” tour, will be
held on the campus of Marion Military Institute, in the
chapel. It will begin at 1:15
p.m. with a press availability, followed by the town
hall meeting at 1:30 p.m.
Earlier in the week,
Sewell made stops in other
Black Belt counties her district includes, with visits to
Greene County and Sumter
County on Tuesday and
Pickens County on Wednesday. She visited Hale
County in March, when she
held a town hall at the Hale
County College and Career
Center in Greensboro.
Each year, Sewell hosts a
series of town hall meetings
in each of the 14 counties
that make up her district to
give constituents an opportunity to share their views
and concerns and hear updates on the latest in Congress.
Congresswoman Sewell
will update constituents on
American Rescue Plan
spending, the federal funding coming to Alabama
from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law,
voting rights, the situation
in Ukraine, and Congress’
ongoing efforts to battle
COVID-19. Constituents
will have the opportunity to
get their questions answered directly by the Congresswoman.
