GPD arrests two for DUI, warns about fake card scanners

Greensboro Police Department announced the following arrests resulting
from the department’s recent activities: 
4/1/22
Verges M. Thomas, 56,
was arrested for D.U.I.
4/11/22
Russell H. Murphy, 35,
was arrested for D.U.I.
Greensboro Police Chief
Michael Hamilton also
made the following public
service announcement: 
“Scammers are attaching
false cared readers to the
real card readers at fuel
pumps and inside stores.
When using your card, be
very careful and check the
card reader if possible. If it
is a false card reader, you
can easily pull the clip-on
false card reader off. Also,
check your account balance
more often after using your
card.”
