The February 15, 2022 meeting of Veritas Club was held at the annex to Peoples Bank. Karen Whitis and Jo Ann Thomas provided refreshments for members. Claire Ryan, vice-president, presided. The secretary, Anne Bailey, read minutes from the January meeting. Karen Whitis provided the treasurer’s report. In addition, Karen provided the information that Gwen Melton, mother of previous scholarship recipient, Jessica Melton, had donated to Veritas’ scholarship fund in appreciation for scholarship assistance. In addition, Gwen Melton reported that she is proud of Jessica Melton’s accomplishments in college and following completion of college. So far one scholarship application has been received for the 2022-2023 school year. Two $500 scholarships will be awarded in April 2022. Applications are available at Greensboro High School, at Southern Academy, at Hale County High School, at Hale County Library, and at Newbern Public Library. Veritas Club was adjourned after the group recited the collect. The next meeting will be held on March 15.
