U.S. Sen. Katie Britt Secures $1 Million for Hale County Road Improvements

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt has announced that $1 million in federal funding has been earmarked to widen and resurface County Road 21 in Hale County as part of a larger Central Alabama appropriations package moving through Congress.

Britt, who serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee, said she helped secure more than $28.7 million for projects across Central Alabama in three Fiscal Year 2026 spending bills covering labor and health, financial services and general government, and transportation and housing.

The package has passed the Senate and now goes back to the U.S. House of Representatives for a final vote before heading to President Trump’s desk.

The Hale County money is designated for an Alabama Department of Transportation project to widen and resurface County Road 21. The rural road is a key connector in eastern Hale County, and the work is expected to improve driving conditions and safety for local residents and commercial traffic.

The County Road 21 work is one of several transportation projects in the package, which also includes funding for road work and airport improvements elsewhere in Central Alabama. In all, Britt’s office said she will have directly secured more than $34.8 million for the region once all FY26 appropriations are finalized.
