Greensboro Garden Club members recently replanted the flower beds at the city welcome sign on Highway 14 and at the courthouse water trough after summer heat took its toll. The club says fall decorations will be in place soon.
Visitors to the Hale County Farmers Market on Thursday, June 4, had the opportunity to meet Margaret Ann Snow, the new Home and Commercial Horticulture Extension Agent serving Hale County. Snow provided educational materials and spoke with attendees about numerous topics, including pollinators and raised bed gardening. Greensboro City Council voted to appoint a new city clerk on Tuesday night. Longtime City Clerk Lorrie Cook, who said last year that she intended to retire from the position, had continued to serve on an interim basis since the beginning of 2026. An Alabama Department of Transportation worker was injured Wednesday after being struck by a tractor-trailer while performing routine roadside maintenance on Alabama Highway 69 north of Greensboro. According to ALDOT, the employee was operating a tractor mower along the highway when a tractor-trailer struck the mower. The worker was transported to a local hospital and is expected to recover. A 23 year-old Sawyerville man has been arrested and charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a Greensboro man during a Class Day Out event Saturday, according to Hale County Sheriff Michael Hamilton. Kardarrell Darnell Winn was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Reform at a girlfriend’s house with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Task Force, Hamilton told WBRC.
