Shaquan (Shay) Thomas Nixion died in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on June 26, 2025 at the age of 33.
She was born on January 17, 1992, to Belinda Lee and Burdie Sanders. She attended Greensboro East High School and later obtained her GED. She was a member of Bible Way True Holiness Church in Greensboro, Alabama, under the leadership of Pastor Annie B. Lee. Her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Molly Thomas; a grandfather, Richard (TJ) Rhodes; an uncle, Morris Thomas; and an aunt, Nancy Anderson.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her mother, Belinda (Ricky) Lee; her father, Burdie (Mary) Sanders; a sister, Shalena Sanders; a brother, Patrick Sanders; grandmothers, Leaner Mae Sanders and Annie B. Lee; a grandfather, Will Henry Lee; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Public viewing was held on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Agnew Funeral Home. Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Greensboro, Alabama. Rev. J. L. Anderson, Pastor. Pastor Annie B. Lee officiated. Sister Marilyn P. Pickens, of Bible Way True Holiness Church, served as Mistress of Order.
Burial followed at Taylor/ Winn Cemetery in Sawyerville, Alabama. Repast was held at the Waller Community Center in Sawyerville.
