Mary Ann Tabb, a beloved matriarch, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and dear friend, passed away peacefully with her children beside her on February 3 at the age of 75. She was a woman of kindness, warmth, and unwavering love, leaving behind a legacy of compassion that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Mary Ann’s legacy will live on in the lives she touched, the lessons she imparted, and the love she so freely gave. Though she is no longer physically with us, her spirit will forever guide us, reminding us to be kind, to love deeply, and to cherish every moment with one another.

Mary Ann Tabb was born to the late James Dates and Elizabeth Tucker Dates on December 31, 1949, in Greensboro, Alabama. She received Christ at an early age and was baptized at Jerusalem Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Eddie Tucker, James Dates, Tommy Dates, and William Clarence Dates; one sister, Sally Dates; and a son, Cedrick Tabb, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memories five children, Michael A. Rox (Judy) of South Carolina, Terrie A. Harris (Dedrick) of Atlanta, Georgia, Cynthia Rox of South Carolina, Deborah Thomas (Demetrius) of Greensboro, and Nicholas Tabb of Greensboro. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Jacque De’Marshay Rox and Dandrille E. Shay Tabb; twenty grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and four aunts, Martha McNeal, Cora Wedner, Izella Pritchard (Walter), and Addie Vardiver, all of Mobile.

She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Susie Dates of Greensboro, Doris Dates of Macon, Georgia, and Julia Tucker of Greensboro, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A homegoing celebration was held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1248 County Road 21, Greensboro. Reverend J.L. Anderson officiated the service.

Interment followed at the church cemetery.
