William, born to the late parents Ed Johnson and Sarah Thomas in Sawyerville, AL. on March 14, 1952, passed away on April 4, 2022. An accomplished craftsman and dedicated two decade long Airman with the Air Force, William rounded out an exemplary list of achievements with ten years in the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Department, followed by serving on the Okaloosa County Airport Council as well as the Niceville City Council. He was a pillar of the community, leading the FCA as the first Black President of the All Sports Association. William’s contributions and dedication will be remembered and missed. Survived by his wife Mary Thomas, Tonia (Thomas) and Lewis Bowman, Tawanna (Thomas) and Eric Atwater, Thomas Jones, Toussaint Thomas, Chante’ (Thomas), Frank Becerra, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on April 9, 2022, 12PM at Evans Cemetery in Sawyerville, Alabama, Washington and Paige Mortuary directing.
