Greensboro High School has announced plans for this year’s Homecoming festivities, and there are lots of fun activities in store.
The annual homecoming parade, which is a well-attended and much-beloved event each year, will take place this year on Friday, Sept. 29 at 2:30 p.m. in downtown Greensboro, along Main Street.
The parade will be the lead-up to homecoming’s biggest event, the evening’s football game. This year’s opponent will be the R.C. Hatch Bobcats from Uniontown. The game will start at 7:00 p.m. that Friday night. The school is offering tailgate packages ranging from $50 to $150. Gates open at noon for the tailgate. Interested fans may reserve their tailgate lots by calling 334- 624-9156. General admission tickets to the game will be $10 at the gate.
All week long, students will be celebrating ‘Raider Nation Spirit Week’ with themed days all week. On Monday, Sept. 25, which will be “Jersey and Hat Day,” there will be a Raider Walk of Champions featuring the GHS football team, cheerleaders, and band, at 10:00 a.m. There will also be a powder puff football game at the track field from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Tuesday will be “Cowboy Boogie Day.” There will be a student dance off/danceline party, featuring the Principal versus D.J. Alert and D.J. Flex, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday will be “Twin Day,” and will feature a step show from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Thursday will be “Dress for Success” day, with the coronation of the Homecoming Court at 9:00 that morning. There will also be a glow party from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
And finally, on Friday, which is Homecoming Day, students will observe “School Spirit Day” by wearing red and black and attending the pep rally at 12:00 noon before heading out for the parade and festivities that afternoon.
