Crash in Greene County on Friday kills two, including Newbern resident

A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 3 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, has claimed two lives. Frances McCreary, 58, of Huntsville and her passenger, Joetta Lewis, 63, of Newbern, were both fatally injured when the 2016 Hyundai Accent that Mc- Creary was driving collided head-on with the 2002 Chevrolet S10 driven by Jeffrey T. McDonald, 40, of Tuscaloosa. Mc- Creary and Lewis were both pronounced deceased at the scene. McDonald and another passenger in the Hyundai, Joretha Lewis, 45, of Newbern, were both injured and transported to area hospitals for treatment.

The crash occurred on U.S. 11 near the 51 mile marker, approximately six miles north of Eutaw, in Greene County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
