Disability Rights & Resources provides free home modifications and repairs to help low-income older adults stay safely in their homes through its Older Adult Home Modification Program.

The organization works with occupational therapists on low-cost modifications that reduce the risk of falls and improve safety and accessibility.

Under a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Older Adult Home Modification Grant, the program is open to homeowners 62 or older with household income less than 80 percent of the area median income.

The organization’s service area covers 20 counties, among them Bibb, Hale, Jefferson and Perry. For details, contact christie.stanley@drradvocates.org or 205-815-6142.
