Fred Crayton and Helen Crayton were king and queen of the “Reach for the Stars” Senior Citizen Prom, held this month by Greensboro Senior Citizens.
Chester Ryans and Mildred “Tina” Black were prince and princess.
J.B. Washington was named Mr. Greensboro Seasonal Citizen, and Johnnie Mae Smith was named Mrs. Greensboro Seasonal Citizen.
Evelyn Hill, director of the Greensboro Senior Citizens Center, thanked those who helped with the prom in a letter written on behalf of Greensboro Senior Citizens.
“To everyone who attended, sponsored, donated, volunteered, provided services, contributed gifts, or helped in any way, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!” she wrote.
Those who helped had a big part in making the prom possible, and the group is grateful to each of them, she wrote. “Seeing our seniors dressed up, smiling, laughing, dancing, and enjoying themselves was a beautiful reminder that our seniors deserve to be celebrated, loved, and appreciated.”
With everyone’s help, the group made memories that will last for years, she wrote. “Every contribution, big or small, made a difference, and we could not have done it without you.” Hill ended the letter with a blessing on those who helped and thanks “for helping us reach for the stars.”
