Herman Lee Carlisle, 55, died Tuesday, September 1, in Gallion.

He was born November 11, 1970, to Freddie Carlisle Sr. and Shirley Carlisle in Hale County.

He confessed Christ at an early age and joined First Baptist Church in Newbern.

He leaves to cherish his memories two children, a daughter, Sierra Richardson (Kejuan) McGhee, and a son, Herman Jamaine Carlisle; three grandchildren, Sa’Niyah McGhee, Khyla McGhee and Kehlani McGhee, all of Gallion; his caring parents, Freddie Sr. and Shirley Carlisle of Newbern; four sisters, Shelia Carlisle (Kelvin Travis), Gwendolyn (Korey) Burrell, Keisha (Thomas) Johnson and Delane

Mockingbird on Main will host a book signing with author Mark Jenkins on Friday, Sept. 18, at the store, 1310 Main Street in Greensboro.

A reception will be held from 3 to 4 p.m., with the signing to follow from 4 to 6 p.m. Jenkins is the author of With One Stone, Do Unto Others and So Shall You Reap. For more information, call the store at 205-903-0352.

Book signing Sept. 18 at Mockingbird on Main Carlisle; five brothers, Freddie Carlisle Jr. (Elizabeth Sanders), Derek Carlisle, Samuel Carlisle, Markius Carlisle and Travis (Diana) Carlisle, all of Newbern; six aunts, Vulah (Andrew) Smith, Sidney Taylor, Carrie Hogan, Loretta Carlisle Davis, Daisy Carlisle and Rosie Baugh; three uncles, Joseph Sr. (Barbara) Carlisle, Sandy (Ovetta) Carlisle and Ivory Richardson; a devoted friend, Patricia Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 12, at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 296 Beech Street, Newbern, with Pastor Shawn Washington officiating.
