City of Uniontown posts notice in search for new chief of police

The City of Uniontown is now accepting applications for the position of Chief of Police.

This leadership role entails directing the overall operations of the Police Department while enforcing all applicable ordinances, laws, and regulations. City officials are seeking a highly qualified candidate who can bring expertise and leadership to the position.

According to the job posting, published this week, applicants must meet several key qualifications. A high school diploma or equivalency is required, and candidates must be or become residents of Uniontown, although relocation assistance is not provided. Preference will be given to those with administrative experience or a related field background.

A minimum two-year degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or Public Administration and at least five years of law enforcement experience is required. However, candidates with seven years of experience, including three years in a supervisory role, may also be considered.

Additional qualifications include at least ten years of progressively responsible experience in police service. Upper management experience is required, and law enforcement or military experience will be considered a plus. Applicants must hold Alabama POST Certification, possess a valid driver’s license, and demonstrate proficiency in computer use as well as strong oral and written communication skills.
