Shelton State Community College, a leading advocate for veteran services, is proud to announce the launch of a new grant aimed at improving mental health care and support for veterans. HERO PATH=s (Hope, Empowerment, Resources, Opportunities Practice, Attitude, Training, and Health=Success) allows the College to provide essential resources to veterans, dependents, and military spouses throughout West Alabama.
The overall goal of this grant is to improve the social, emotional, and psychological wellbeing of veterans and their families. “This program comes at a crucial time, as mental health issues continue to affect many veterans, impacting their overall wellbeing and quality of life,” states Eric Prewitt, Director of Financial Aid and supervisor of the College’s Veterans Resource Center.
“We recognize that our veterans face unique and often complex mental health challenges, and this grant program is a step toward ensuring they receive the support they deserve,” said Prewitt. “By partnering with healthcare providers, local organizations, and mental health professionals, we offer a comprehensive approach to mental health care that empowers veterans to heal and thrive.”
Staff members will be hosting information sessions for West Alabama community members interested in the grant.
