Moundville arrests woman for illegally obtaining city water

Lisa Michelle Robinson of Moundville was arrested on Friday, May 24, on charges of unlawfully obtaining water from the Moundville Water Department.

The arrest follows an incident on April 26, 2024, where Robinson allegedly cut the zip tie off a water meter to restore water service, which had been disconnected, according to the criminal complaint filed against her.

According to court documents filed in the District Court of Hale County, Robinson is accused of committing theft of water, resulting in unlawfully gaining access to city water service amounting to $21.32.

The complaint alleges that the act was intended to deprive the water department of its property. The charge against Robinson is classified as “Illegally Obtaining Water/Electricity/Gas — 2nd Degree,” a misdemeanor property crime as per Section 13A-8-23 of the Alabama Code.

According to court records, Robinson was arrested by Moundville Police Department and has been placed in jail pending further court actions. The court set her bond at $2,500. A plea docket is scheduled for July 12, 2024, at 9:00 AM.
