Folante Omar Perry was born on January 14, 1984, to the late Susan Perry and the late Phillip Green in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was educated in the Hale County School System and graduated from Greensboro Public School East Campus in 2001. Following high school, he attended Stillman College, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Education, a Master’s degree, and an Ed.S. degree. He was pursuing his Ph.D. while working as Assistant Principal at Minor High School in Jefferson County School Systems.
At an early age, Deacon Folante Perry confessed his faith at the First Baptist Church in Newbern, Alabama, under the Pastorship of Rev. James Williams. He later joined the Macedonia Baptist Church under the Pastorship of the late Rev. Darren Morgan, where he served as a deacon. After marrying Jessica Marie Perry, he joined the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church under the Pastorship of the Rev. Dr. Jesse White, Jr., where he served as a deacon and Director of Christian Education.
Folante Perry’s career in education included teaching in various school systems such as Marengo County School System, Tuscaloosa City School System, and Jefferson County School System. He taught at John Essex High School, Central Primary, Eastwood Middle School, and most recently at Minor High School as an Assistant Principal. He dedicated 19 years to education, impacting the lives of students, co-workers, and the community.
He was well known in the Masonic Order, serving in various capacities including Worshipful Master for Liberty Star #333, Past Excellent High Priest, and other notable positions. He was an active member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., serving as president of the graduate line at Stillman College in 2005.
Folante Perry married Jessica Marie White on June 24, 2017. They were blessed with a daughter, Nora-Ava Grace Perry. He was a loving husband and father, devoted to providing for his family.
Folante Perry passed away on May 20, 2024. He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Perry; father, Phillip Green; grandparents, James Perry and Hannah Perry. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Jessica Marie Perry; daughter, Nora-Ava Grace Perry; father-in-law, Rev. Dr. Jesse White, Jr.; mother-in-law, First Lady Marilynn White; sisters-inlaw, Krystle White and Jerilynn White; niece, Korri White; nephews, Kaidyn White and Jesse White; aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Baptist Church, 2320 MLK Jr. Blvd, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401. Pastor Clarence Gary officiated, and Pastor Jesse White, Jr. served as the eulogist.
