Julian Wyatt, a recent graduate from Moundville, Alabama, has been selected as one of 13 University of Alabama students to receive a Fulbright Award for the 2024-2025 academic year. Wyatt, who graduated in May 2023 with a degree in international studies and German, will be heading to Germany to teach English as part of this prestigious program.
The Fulbright Program, recognized as the most prestigious international exchange program in the United States, offers students, scholars, and professionals opportunities to engage in one-year grants for independent study, research, and English teaching assistantships overseas. Annually, approximately 1,500 recipients are chosen from over 11,000 applicants, highlighting the program’s competitive nature.
In February, the University of Alabama was recognized as a Top Producing Institution of Fulbright U.S. Students for the seventh time in nine years. Additionally, UA received the designation of a Top Producing Institution of Fulbright U.S. Scholars for the first time, making it one of only 12 universities in the nation to achieve both distinctions.
Wyatt, a member of the Delta Phi Alpha Honor Society, plans to pursue a career as a Naval officer after his Fulbright experience. His selection to teach English in Germany underscores his academic excellence.
