Athletes can participate in all pre-competition activities including the Opening Ceremony which includes the Parade of Athletes, Oath of Athletes, and lighting of the flame to declare the Games open. Athletes compete for bronze, silver, and gold medals. The Alabama State Games brings athletes from all across the state to compete and have this unique experience ,” Alabama State Games Executive Director Laura Burt said. “Our weekend event is also about helping athletes succeed in life. We believe in academics and are awarding 32 academic scholarships on June 7 totaling $40,000 adding to our to date total awarded of $363,000.”
Athletes who register for the 41st Alabama State Games and attend the State Farm Athlete Leadership Summit and Opening Ceremony on June 7 inside Legacy Arena at the BJCC are eligible for that night’s scholarship drawing. Jacksonville State – in an inaugural partnership – has agreed to match the amount awarded to any current, soon-to-be or future Gamecock.

Sport is the vehicle used by the Alabama State Games to promote academic success, healthy lifestyles and good citizenship. “Burt added: “We had 3,300 athletes for the 40th Anniversary Alabama State Games in 2023. I’m excited to see that number grow and all 67 counties represented during our Parade of Athletes at our Opening Ceremony. Welcoming students from the state’s colleges and universities will go a long way in helping us achieve that goal. From our first year to 41st, we intentionally strive to keep registration fees low to make the Alabama State Games accessible to athletes of all ages from all socioeconomic backgrounds.”
