Few details were available as of press time, but numerous Greensboro residents reported hearing a rapid series of shots fired early Sunday morning. The shots could be heard in the West Main Street vicinity, as well as in the Demopolis-Street area, and in other parts of town as well.
Initial reports are that the shots may have been related to an as-yet unconfirmed shooting that may have resulted in injuries to at least one woman. The incident was reported to be connected with an earlier violent incident in Greene County.
Greensboro Police Chief Willie Lewis confirmed that there was a shooting over the weekend, and that the victim was injured but expected to make a full recovery. Lewis said the case was still under investigation, an no arrests have yet been made in relation to the matter.
