Magnolia Homemakers & Community Leaders met here September 19

Magnolia Homemakers and Community Leaders met on September 19, 2023 at AL Fish Farm Center in a joint meeting with Hale County Homemakers’ groups. Nancy Jennings presided. Pam Hamilton shared a devotional. In addition, she shared ideas about recycling notecards and using natural cleansers.

Donna Nixon led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.

Nancy Jennings announced that Irene Crawford has been nominated as the Key Member for 2023 to the Alabama Homemakers.

The remarkable program was presented by Eve Engle who moved to Greensboro in 2019 after purchasing and restoring a home on Tuscaloosa Street in Greensboro. The program’s title was “The Swedish Nightingale.” Jenny Lind, the Swedish opera singer, lived from 1820-1887 and traveled the world sharing her unique trilling voice and extraordinary range. Interspersed into the presentation, Eve sang several different songs for which Jenny Lind was so popular.

Before the group enjoyed a spaghetti meal, Hattie Williams shared grace.

Cultural arts entries for the state meeting were displayed for members to view before the arts are entered into the state competition in October.
