Hannah Jane Woods passed away on August 29, 2023 at the age of 86. She was born on December 1, 1936, to Sam and Mary Williams in Newbern, AL. A service in her honor was held on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 12:00 Noon at the Greenleaf Baptist Church on Hwy 25 South in Greensboro, AL, with Pastor C.H. Agnew officiating.
Hannah confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a dedicated member of the Greenleaf Baptist Church. Throughout her life, she was a beacon of faith and wisdom, as reflected in Matthew 25:21, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
She was predeceased by her daughter, Odessa Lindsey, granddaughter, Jyna Mitchell, life partner of 54 years, James Warren, as well as her brothers: George, Henry, Willie, James, Sam Jr., Robert, and Mark Williams, and her sisters: Janie Wheeler, Oillie Burks, Helen Carlisle, Mary, Lorrie, and Lola Williams. A special niece, Martha Miller, also predeceased her.
Hannah’s legacy will live on through her surviving family. She is remembered by her sister, Rosie Miller of Greensboro, AL; her children: Lizzie (Stennie) Basnight of New York, Cleo and Carolyn Williams, Albert and Dorothy Woods of Chicago, IL, Mandly (Robert) Williams of Kenosha, IL, Brenda (Phillip) Purse of Cleveland, OH, Paul Woods, James C. Warren (Trina), Barry Dean (Sandra) Williams, Michelle (Clevell) Robinson, and Charles Miller of Greensboro, AL, and son-in-law, Larry Lindsey of Kenosha, IL.
Additionally, her legacy will continue with her many grandchildren: Cleo Jr., Robert Jr., Kelton, Ricky, Billy, Kesha, Roderick, Ronnie, Micheal, Hannah Monique, Laquita, Ivan, Jaysen, Latisha, Jennifer, Alberina, Khalderone, Jermaine, Latifah, Cynethia, Phillip Jr., Christopher, and James Jr., along with one special niece, Oillie Williams. She is also survived by h 40 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
