Greensboro-based textile artist Aaron Head will be hosting a natural dyes workshop at Kentuck’s Georgine Clark Building in Northport on Saturday, July 1 from 9:30 AM to 12 noon. Tuition is $65 and participants are encouraged to bring their own prewashed, natural textiles for dyeing.

Utilizing cosmos, marigolds, and other flowers and plants from his garden, Head will demonstrate various ways of deriving dye from these plants. Techniques will include: bundle dyeing, immersion dyeing, and shibori.

Students will be supplied with a scarf for bundle dyeing and a handkerchief for their own experimentation. It is suggested participants wear clothing that they do not mind staining during the dyeing process. Registrants must be 18 years or older to apply. For information and registration, contact Mary Bell, Program Director, at mbell@kentuck.org.
