Fall lecture series starts this weekend at Hale Co. Library with presentation on Black Warrior River

A series of lectures sponsored by the Friends of the Hale County Library is about to kickoff. Each hourlong lecture will be at the Hale County Library on 1103 Main Street in Greensboro. Each lecture will have a questions and answers portion, with light refreshments to follow.

Beginning on Saturday, September 17, from 10 to 11 AM, Jim Colby will be the guest speaker. A River Keeper and Administrator of the Black Warrior River Watch and History’s Facebook group, Colby will discuss the Black Warrior River, its environmental impact, and transportation along its waters.

Saturday, October 22, from 10 to 11 AM, Meg Ford will be the lecturer. Ford is the Education and Outreach Coordinator for Wild Alabama. During her lecture, Ford will discuss the history of Wilderness Lands in Alabama, as well as “Leave No Trace” principles.

Finally, on Tuesday, November 1, from 7 to 8 PM, Anna Catherine “A.C.” Reeves will be the guest lecturer. A part of Selma Sample Tours, Reeves will talk about tourism and travel throughout the Black Belt region.
