There will be “Oceans of Possibilities” for learning and fun when the Newbern Library presents its Summer Reading Program June 10 – July 30, 2022, at the library.
Inviting students of all ages from toddlers to high-schoolers, the library will kick off the six-week reading program with its annual Summer Reading Festival June 10th and 11th under the big tent adjacent to the library. On Friday morning students will see and hear a presentation by the McWane Science Center, learn about and register for the summer reading marathon, and explore the world of robotics in the Beta Box traveling laboratory from the University of West Alabama.
Saturday morning, June 11th, brings more activities beginning at 9:30am: a hands-on presentation from NASA about exploring space, a special book reading, a lively presentation with food from the Alabama Extension Service, more robotic fun in the Beta Box trailer, face painting, and casting lessons with rods and reels.
A new feature of the Sumer Reading Festival this year for adults will be a summer market in the library courtyard with local artists selling their creations, along with food items and new library t-shirts. An extensive selection of used books also will be available under the shade in the courtyard.
The Newbern Library invites everyone to the activities at the Summer Reading Festival to enjoy the “Oceans of Possibilities” for fun and learning there!
