Jinnie Lou Tucker Calhoun, age 74, passed away peacefully at her home on May 21, 2022.

A graveside service was held on May 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Methodist Church in Northern Hale County. The family received friends after the service.

Jinnie was born on May 28, 1947 in Perry County. She was preceded in death by her parents Eleanor and Ward Tucker, Sr and sisters Irma Tucker Smith and Mary Sybil Tucker.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Nicky Calhoun and their three daughters, Paula Whitlock (Wayne), Pam Kirsch (Eric), and Ginger Thomas; five grandchildren Tony Whitlock (Savannah), Austin and Alexis Thomas, Erica and Nic Kirsch; her sister Ellen Glasko (Bill) and brother Ward Tucker, Jr (Renita). She was affectionately known as “Mama Jinnie” to her grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers are employees of Southern Care (Hospice) New Beacon, Hale County Home Health and all of her cousins.

Jinnie worked for The Alabama State Employment Service, and the Department of Human Resources in Marion and Greensboro. She used her green thumb on all flowers and it showed just by looking at the beautiful flowers in her yard. Flowers are welcome or donations can be made to the Pleasant Valley Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Ren Kynard, 1605 Water Oak Rd, Greensboro, Al 36744.
