Travis unseats Howard in Alabama Rep. District 72 primary election

Hale County native Curtis Travis, of Tuscaloosa, will represent Hale County and Alabama District 72 in the next session of the state’s legislature.

Travis defeated Greensboro native and longtime Alabama State Representative Ralph Howard in the Democratic primary election on Tuesday, May 24. There will be no Republican opposition in the general election, making the winner of the Democratic primary the presumptive winner of the office.

In a race marked by low turnout across the board, there were a total of 5,866 votes cast in the district including Bibb, Greene, Hale, and parts of Tuscaloosa counties.
