Iris Jean Tidmore, age 79 of Tuscaloosa, passed away May 8, 2022 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services were held on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Magnolia Chapel South with Rev. Mark Allis and Rev. James Walker officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Moundville. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
She is preceded in death by her husband; Lary Eugene Tidmore, parents James H. and Beatrice Griffin, and brother-in-law; Wayne Stokes.
Survivors include her daughter; Dana Tidmore (Carol Caruthers), son; Neal Tidmore (Carol), sisters; Shirley Peeples (Rev. Paul), Faye Rigsby (Billy), Ann Stokes, grandchildren: Bailey Tidmore, Briley Tidmore and great granddaughter Ellie Grace Tidmore, special friends; Glenn Marshall and Tammy Tyner and her best friend Doris Gray, niece; Elana Peeples, nephew; Mark Rigsby.
Jean was born in Hale County and lives in Tuscaloosa since childhood. She was a loving wife of 49 years to her late husband, Lary Tidmore. She was a loving and loyal mother to her children and grandchildren. Jean loved God, her church and friends without reservation. She was a true friend to anyone she met, always thinking of others before herself.
Pallbearers were Donnie Carruth, John Dee Carruth, David Stone, Rev. Roy Bush, Mike Peacock and Ken Dunn. Honorary pallbearers were her Red Hat Club ladies, Tuscaloosa First Church of Nazarene, Havana United Methodist Church, Richard Carruth, WE Carruth Jr., Southside United Methodist Church, DCH 2nd floor Oncology unit and staff.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
