Michael Hamilton of Greensboro has made the following announcement to the Greensboro Watchman:

“It is a great honor for me to announce my candidacy for Sheriff of Hale County. I am currently the Chief of Police for the City of Greensboro. I have been the Chief of Police since April of 2015. I started my career in law enforcement on December 14, 1998, when I was hired as a police officer with the City of Greensboro. I was later promoted to the position of Sergeant. Later, I was promoted and became a Captain. Thereafter, I became Assistant Chief and on April 15, 2015 I was appointed to serve as Chief of Police.

“I am the youngest son of the late Rev. Joe L. Hamilton, Sr. and the late Sallie Hamilton. I have four brothers and five sisters. I am a proud graduate of Greensboro High School, class of 1987. After graduation, I enrolled in Alabama A&M University. I left Alabama A&M to return home to work with my father as a brick mason.

“I am a member of St. Mary A.M.E. Church, where I serve as a Steward. I am married to Mrs. LaNeshia Long Hamilton, and I am the father of three sons, JaMIcah, Cameron and Carson. I am a member of Masonic Lodge 228 and Men of Valor, a community organization formed to mentor, support, educate, and tutor young men and women in our community. I am also a Board Member of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Regional Task Force and a member of the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Task Force of Alabama, Hale County Children’s Policy Council, Black Belt Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Task force, as well as the Federal ATF.

I will ensure the Hale County Sheriff’s Department maintains a good working relationship with our community and maintains a great line of communication with other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. As your Sheriff, I will continue to work vigorously with the youth and youth organizations in our community to ensure a bright and better future for our young people. More importantly, as your Sheriff, I will ensure and insist our Deputies and staff maintain proper training and education so we can safely, responsively, and professionally protect our community.

“I am excited about the opportunity to be elected as the next Sheriff of Hale. Please pray for me and VOTE for me on May 24, 2022, for Sheriff of Hale County.”
