Southern Academy’s golf team took home first place in a tournament held this week at Lakeview Country Club in Greensboro. Team member Nick Arnold earned the Low Medalist award, and Hamner Lewis qualified to play in the state tournament.

The Tombigbee Resource Conservation and Development Council is accepting applications for its fiscal year 2027 grant cycle, with funding ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 per project. Applications are being accepted through June 30. No late applications will be accepted. Approved projects may begin on Oct. 1. Grants are awarded on a reimbursement-only basis, meaning applicants must cover costs upfront and submit for repayment after the work is completed. The Greensboro community will celebrate Juneteenth with a Community Day Celebration on Saturday, June 20, at Lions Park from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The event will feature music and entertainment, food vendors, games and activities, and community fellowship. Trophies will be awarded during the celebration. The event is free and open to the public. Organizers are inviting residents of Greensboro and surrounding counties to attend for a day of unity, culture, food, and fellowship.
